Govt Plan to Launch 5 New Universities Across Pakistan
As part of the upcoming Public Sector Development Programme PSDP for the fiscal year 2025–26, the federal government has allocated more than Rs. 9 billion to establish five new public sector universities across various regions of the country, according to documents accessed by local online resources. The students can visit there to get the fresh updates of Govt Plan to Launch 5 New Universities Across Pakistan.
Higher Education Expansion Targets Key Regions Across Pakistan
Here is the distribution of the funding:
- University of Sahiwal will receive Rs. 1.37 billion. The project was originally approved by the Departmental Development Working Party DDWP in 2020.
- Women University Bagh in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been allocated Rs. 1.80 billion, with initial approval from the Central Development Working Party CDWP back in 2016.
- FATA University is set to get Rs. 1.76 billion, following CDWP approval in 2015.
- University of Chitral will be supported with Rs. 1.72 billion, also approved by the DDWP in 2020.
- University of Gwadar has been granted the largest share—Rs. 2.49 billion—after receiving CDWP approval in 2022.
This investment reflects a broader strategy to expand access to higher education in underserved and strategically important regions across Pakistan.
