Federal Minister for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, revealed these developments during a Senate Standing Committee meeting. She emphasized that the certifications will help young Pakistanis compete in the global digital economy by equipping them with in-demand skills. Collaborations with industry giants like Google and Microsoft are expected to significantly boost employment prospects for Pakistani youth.

The minister also shared that the government is actively working on integrating AI into the primary school curriculum. A special reform committee, led by the Prime Minister, is evaluating current syllabi to align education with emerging global technologies. Shaza stressed that early exposure to AI will empower children with future-ready skills and better prepare the countrys workforce for tomorrow’s challenges.

Criticizing the disconnect between higher education and employment, the minister pointed out that many universities continue to produce IT graduates who remain jobless. She called for stricter accountability and suggested reducing funding for institutions whose graduates consistently fail to secure employment. Shaza urged the Higher Education Commission HEC to focus on performance-based support and promote academic programs that meet real-world industry needs.

Additionally, the Senate committee reviewed the hiring process for the Director General DG of International Coordination. Addressing concerns, Shaza clarified that although the current DG was reappointed, the position was re-advertised to ensure transparency. She confirmed that more than 1,400 candidates had applied for the post, reaffirming that it is designed for seasoned professionals and plays a critical role in strengthening Pakistan’s international engagement.
