Girls Schools Closed Due to Teacher Shortage in KP
In a concerning development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Khyber district, 37 government run girls primary schools have been forced to close due to a critical shortage of teaching staff. This widespread closure is jeopardizing the education and future prospects of hundreds of young female students in the region. Educational Crisis as 37 Girls’ Schools Close in Khyber District
Reports indicate that the closures include 21 schools in Tehsil Landi Kotal, 12 in Tehsil Bara, and 4 in Tehsil Jamrud. The situation has raised serious concerns among local communities and education advocates, as access to basic education for girls in these areas is now severely limited.
Sources reveal that the unavailability of teachers, particularly female instructors, is the primary cause. Many female teachers are reluctant to take up assignments in remote and underdeveloped regions, and there is also a notable deficit of qualified female educators within the local population. This ongoing shortage has left numerous schools without the necessary personnel to remain operational.
