According to reports, fellow students found her critically injured and lying in blood before immediately informing the college administration. The student, identified as F, belonged to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and was residing in the government hostel of the university.

She sustained severe injuries, including significant trauma to her head and neck along with multiple fractures. She was promptly shifted to the emergency unit of the affiliated Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. After an initial medical evaluation, doctors transferred her to the operating theatre, where a team of senior specialists carried out extensive neurosurgery in an effort to save her life. Despite these efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries.

Vice Chancellor Khalid Masood Gondal stated that the student’s condition had been extremely critical from the time she was brought to the hospital. He explained that the incident took place at the girls’ hostel of FJMU and suggested that it may have been an accidental fall. He further announced that a medical board comprising senior doctors had been formed. Additionally, a five-member inquiry committee made up of experienced doctors and professionals has been tasked with investigating the matter and presenting its findings within 24 hours. The committee is being headed by Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Dean of Undergraduate Studies.

While the FJMU administration indicated that the fall could have been accidental, some eyewitnesses and internal sources alleged that the student may have jumped intentionally in an attempt to take her own life. However, no confirmed reason for the incident has yet been established.

This unfortunate event follows earlier cases in which two other students, including a female student from a private university in Raiwind, reportedly jumped from buildings, raising concerns about student safety and well-being.
