Federal Ministry Announces Matric & Inter New Syllabus





Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Education in Pakistan has recently announced the approval of a new national curriculum, marking the first update in seventeen years since the previous curriculum in 2006. The development of the curriculum for Class 9th to Class 12th was a collaborative effort, involving various stakeholders and ensuring inclusivity in the process. The implementation of the new syllabus will be rolled out gradually, with classes 9 and 11 adopting it in 2024, followed by classes 10 and 12 in 2025. Inclusive Curriculum Development:

The ministry engaged relevant stakeholders throughout the curriculum development process, including policymakers, academics, practitioners, parents, and students from across the country. Extensive consultations and policy dialogues were conducted, along with numerous curriculum workshops to gather feedback. An online portal was also made available for stakeholders to share their input. Regional curriculum workshops were held in each province, culminating in a final workshop at the NCC Secretariat in Islamabad, where experts from all provinces, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan reviewed and signed off on the curriculum for nine subjects.


Implementation and Stakeholder Meetings:

To ensure effective implementation of the new curriculum, multiple stakeholder meetings were convened, resulting in the official notification of the curriculum for Islamabad Capital Territory and institutions under the Federal Ministries. Alongside the notification, an implementation plan has been issued to guide the process. Provinces will review and notify the curriculum in accordance with their respective Acts and laws.

The Ministry of Federal Educations approval of the new matric and inter syllabus marks a significant milestone in Pakistans education system after a long-awaited revision. The inclusive and collaborative approach taken in the curriculum development process ensures a comprehensive and well-rounded educational framework. With an implementation plan in place, the new curriculum will be gradually adopted, paving the way for enhanced learning experiences and better educational outcomes for students across the country.
