FBISE Implements New 10 Level Grading System from 2026

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education FBISE has launched a new 10-level grading system, which will be applied starting from the First Annual Examinations 2026 for SSC-I and HSSC-I, and from 2027 for SSC-II and HSSC-II students. Federal Board Announces Updated Grading Policy for SSC and HSSC

This change comes following the approval of the Inter Board Coordination Commission IBCC during its 182nd meeting held in August 2025. The official notification, released by FBISE on October 7, 2025, outlines a more transparent and balanced approach to evaluating students’ academic performance.

Under the revised grading policy, students achieving 96–100% will be awarded an A++ Extraordinary grade, while those with 91–95% will get A+ Exceptional, and 86–90% will be marked A Outstanding. Scores between 81–85% will correspond to B++ Excellent, 76–80% to B+ Very Good, and 71–75% to B Good. Similarly, marks between 61–70% will earn a C+ Fairly Good, 51–60% a C Above Average, and 40–50% a D Emerging. Students obtaining less than 40% will receive a U Ungraded.

The notification further states that any student marked as “Ungraded” in a subject must reappear in that paper, provided they meet the eligibility requirements.
