Cambridge IGCSE Cancels 9709/12 Math Leaked Paper Exam

Cambridge International Education has confirmed that one of its AS Level Mathematics exam papers was leaked before the scheduled time, leading to its cancellation and a decision to hold a new Exams for the affected candidates. Leaked AS Level Math Paper Leads to Cancellation & Fresh Exams for Students

In an official statement, the organization explained that AS Level Mathematics Paper 9709/12, conducted on 29 April 2026 across Administrative Zones 3 and 4, was improperly circulated prior to the exam. Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that the integrity of the paper had been compromised to such an extent that it could not be used for grading purposes.

As a result, the affected component will be excluded from the final assessment, and students who appeared for it will be required to sit for a replacement exam. The institution expressed regret over the disruption, acknowledging the effort students had put into their preparation and emphasizing its commitment to maintaining fairness in assessment.

The statement further noted that inquiries into the unauthorized sharing of exam content are ongoing. Relevant authorities and law enforcement agencies are working alongside Cambridge to identify those responsible for the breach.

Cambridge also warned that strict disciplinary measures will be enforced against individuals found involved in leaking or misusing Exams materials, including the possibility of permanent exclusion from all Cambridge qualifications.

While the board noted that reports of paper leaks are not uncommon and are often found to be inaccurate, this case was verified after investigation, leading to the decision to invalidate the paper.

The revised exams schedule for Mathematics 9709/12 has been scheduled for 9 June 2026 as part of the June exam series. The organization confirmed that no additional fees will be charged to students or institutions for this retake, and the results will still be released on 11 August 2026 as planned.

Further guidance will be issued to schools by 15 May, including instructions for conducting the re-exam, handling question paper distribution, options for withdrawal from the June 2026 session, and registration details for the November 2026 series.

Cambridge urged students to stay focused on their remaining Exams and assured that measures are being strengthened to uphold transparency and protect the credibility of the assessment system.
