Cambridge Finalizes June 9 Replacement Date for Cancelled AS-Level Math Exam

Cambridge Finalizes June 9 Replacement Date for Cancelled AS-Level Math Exam

Cambridge International Education has formally announced that all Pakistani candidates enrolled for the cancelled CAIE A-Level Mathematics Paper 9709/12 will sit for a newly formulated replacement exam on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The initial test, administered on April 29, was declared null and void after a security probe exposed widespread premature sharing across digital platforms, violating rigorous Exams guidelines.

Testing Board Details Exemption Policies and Financial Safeguards for Affected Candidates

Addressing school leaders, Cambridge emphasized that the compromised test will not be used under any circumstances to generate final results via calculated or predicted grading. To alleviate immediate financial burdens on local academic communities, the evaluation body confirmed that neither educational institutions nor individual candidates will face supplementary charges for participating in the June 9 session. Furthermore, the overall release date for the broader June 2026 AS and CAIE A-Level annual exams result 2026 series remains securely locked for August 11.

For candidates unable or unwilling to attend the rescheduled summer session, Cambridge has introduced an accommodating withdrawal option available until June 17, which guarantees a full refund of standard entry fees. However, this administrative concession requires complete withdrawal from the entire syllabus, rather than just Component 12 alone.

Additionally, the testing board has offered vital structural relief to final-year A-Level students who cannot make the June 9 retake. CAIE will extend its traditional 13-month marks carry-forward policy, allowing these specific candidates to safely defer their existing session metrics directly into the November 2026 Exams series without losing their previous academic progress.
