Board Exams Cancels and New Marking System Observes

Federal Government has announced that the annual exams for the matric and intermediate classes will be cancelled because of the Coronavirus pandemic threat. The schools and colleges were closed during mid of March and the vacations were declared till 31 May and the government was going to open the educational institutes from 01 June 2020. The meeting of the provincial ministers of education of all four provinces was conducted yesterday through the video conferencing but they could not reach at the mutually settled decision. Now the meeting of the National Coordination Committee was conducted today and the Prime Minister of Pakistan chaired this meeting. The matter regarding reopening of the schools and colleges was taken up in this meeting and it was decided that all of the educational boards in Pakistan will cancel the matric part 1 and 2 and intermediate part 1 and 2 annual exams for session 2019-2020 will be cancelled and the students will be promoted to the next higher classes according to the average marking system. The government said that they give the priority to health and safety of the students and teachers and they have made this decision in light of this prevailing situation of COVID-19 outbreak across the country.

According to the decision of the NCC meeting, the educational institutes across the country will re-open on 15 July and it is hopefully said that the situation of corona spread in the country will be improved. It is reported that keeping the social distancing in the schools is not possible and the holding of the exams become quite difficult to arrange large number of exams centers in order to keep the social distancing among the students, who will appear in the exams.
