All Sindh Private Schools Propose Extended Winter Timings to Jan 31

Private educational institutions in Karachi have suggested extending the current winter school schedule by continuing the 9:00 am opening time until January 31, citing the persistent cold weather in the city. The proposal was put forward in light of the cold wave that has disrupted daily routines, especially in the far-flung areas of Sindh. Proposal to Keep School Start Time at 9 AM Until End of January
The recommendation came from the All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association, which highlighted that the ongoing low temperatures are making it difficult for students to attend schools early in the morning. According to the association, the cold conditions are not limited to urban centers but are also severely affecting life in remote districts across the province.
The chairman of the association urged the immediate convening of a meeting of the Private Schools Steering Committee to review the situation and finalize a revised academic calendar. He also appealed to the Sindh education minister to allow schools to continue starting classes at 9:00 am until the end of January, keeping the current weather conditions in mind.
In addition to the timing issue, the association emphasized the need for the timely release of standardized examination syllabi and paper patterns. The chairman pointed out that the academic session is approaching its conclusion, leaving a short preparation period before examinations. This makes early and clear decisions from the authorities essential.
The association further warned that any delay in issuing examination-related guidelines could create difficulties in academic planning for both schools and students, potentially affecting exam preparation and overall scheduling.
