All Schools in Punjab Closed Due to Smog and Air Pollution

In response to worsening air pollution and the hazardous effects of smog, all schools across Punjab have been ordered to close.

According to an official notification, both public and private schools throughout the province will remain closed until November 17th.

Education Minister’s Statement

Punjabs Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, explained in his statement that the decision to shut down Punjab schools in every district was made due to the rising smog levels. Complaints from various districts regarding the deteriorating air quality played a key role in this decision.

Rana Sikandar Hayat further stated that all public and private schools will stay closed until November 17th.

Concern for Students Health

The minister acknowledged the negative impact this closure will have on education but emphasized that the step was necessary to protect children from the harmful effects of air pollution. "We are compelled to take this drastic measure to ensure the safety of our students from severe health risks caused by the smog," he said.
He also mentioned that due to the challenges associated with online education, a new alternative strategy will be introduced soon. Hayat urged the public to cooperate and ensure that their vehicles are properly maintained to reduce pollution.
