QS uses five components to rank the universities or institutes in the World University Subject Rankings, which are:

Academic Reputation
Employer Reputation
Research Citation in each paper
H-Index
International Research Network

The first two factors are the international surveys of academic and employers and they use to assess the international reputation of institutes in each subject. The next two factors are used to evaluate the research impact and h-index for relevant subject. It is also used to determine the impact and productivity of the research work of the students and scholars. The Scopus is the world most comprehensive research citation database, which is used to give the data for these two indicators. The last indicator is used to check the international research collaboration of an institute.
