12500 Candidates Register for MDCAT Retake in Islamabad
Islamabad: A total of 12,500 candidates have registered for the retake of the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test MDCAT, scheduled to be conducted by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University SZABMU on December 30 Monday. MDCAT Retake Following IHCs Order
Previously, 22,500 candidates had registered for the MDCAT 2024 retake held on September 22. However, following several complaints, the Islamabad High Court IHC ordered the university to retake the test. SZABMU had initially conducted the test in Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir AJK, as well as in two centers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Due to numerous grievances, the IHC intervened and instructed the university to arrange for a retake.
While the result of the September 22 exam will remain unchanged, candidates wishing to reappear in the MDCAT were invited to submit applications. Around 17,000 students expressed their interest, prompting the university to initially schedule the retake for November 24. This was later canceled, and the mdcat 2024 retake in islamabad was rescheduled for December 14. However, the university canceled the December 14 test as well and announced a new date for December 22.
Meanwhile, SZABMU MDCAT 2024 retake filed an appeal with the IHC challenging the retake order, offering an alternative of increasing students marks. However, on December 18, the IHC insisted that the test be conducted within two weeks.
