About Post Graduate Medical Institute Pgmi

The Post Graduate Medical Institute PGMI was established in 1984 at Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, to address the growing need for specialized healthcare services and trained medical specialists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The institute was founded by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the vision of developing a dedicated center for postgraduate medical education, advanced clinical training, and healthcare research.

Over the past four decades, PGMI has played a vital role in producing highly qualified medical professionals who serve across the province and beyond. The institute offers structured postgraduate training programs in multiple medical and surgical specialties in accordance with CPSP and international accreditation standards. It also promotes modern workplace-based assessment methods, advanced clinical skills training, and research activities in various health sciences fields.

PGMI’s mission is to prepare and train postgraduate doctors to deliver high-quality specialist healthcare services at district and sub-district levels while establishing a provincial center of excellence for tertiary healthcare and medical research.
