Sindh Issues Notice to Private School Over Fee Violations
The Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions, Sindh, has taken action against all three campuses of a private school located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, over alleged violations of private school fee regulations.
According to officials, the school has been accused of charging tuition fees higher than the approved amount, collecting annual fees without authorization, and failing to provide the mandatory fee concessions required under Sindh education laws.
The notices were issued following several complaints submitted by parents regarding excessive fee collection. The official notice, signed by Additional Director of Registration Prof. Rafia Mallah, states that the institution allegedly violated the provisions of the Sindh Private Educational Institutions Regulation and Control Ordinance.
The Directorate has directed the school administration to immediately stop collecting unapproved fees and refund the excess amount received from parents within 15 days. The management has also been instructed to provide fee concessions to eligible students, as the law requires private schools to offer financial relief to at least 10 percent of enrolled students.
Authorities warned that failure to comply with the directives could result in legal action under Section 8 of the ordinance, including the suspension or cancellation of the schools registration.
Officials further revealed that the school had previously received show-cause notices regarding the same allegations. However, the explanations submitted by the management were found to be unsatisfactory.
The school representatives were later called for a formal hearing before the Directorate, where they reportedly failed to justify the collection of higher tuition and annual fees or present documentary evidence in support of their practices.
Following the hearing, the Directorate decided to proceed with disciplinary action against the institution. Education authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring that private schools comply with the approved fee structure and protect the rights of students and parents across Sindh.
