Punjab University 10% Increase in Exams & Registration Fees

Due to spreading of the coronavirus pandemic in the country, the educational institutes are closed and the academic activities are suspended all over the country. The syndicate of Punjab University ratified the proposal for increase in the fee as Punjab University is finding the ways increase their financial budget and they can be able to meet the financial requirements, which are triggered by the cut in the annual budget being allotted by the Higher Education Commission (HEC). It is also revealed that the recent increase in the registration and exams fee was necessary after cut in the financial budget allotted by the HEC as the syndicate viewed the move so that they can pay the salaries to the faculty staff and other staff members of the university.
Punjab University has increased the registration fee of BA/BSc classes from Rs.3720/- to Rs.4090/-. The University has also increased the exams fee for BA and BSc classes from Rs.5000/- to Rs.5490/- and from Rs.5750/- to Rs.6315/- respectively. The university has also accorded the increase in the exams and registration fees for MA, MSc, LLB, M.Com and B.Com.
Punjab University has also waived of the fee of the regular students except for the tuition fee keeping in view the detrimental economic repercussions of this pandemic across the country and the students did not attend the regular classes in the main campus but they stayed in their homes and carried on online classes. The private students and the significant number of female students from underprivileged and the remote areas rejected the increase in fee and they demanded to roll back the fee increase.
