Punjab Launches Micro-Libraries and Cultural Walls Initiative
For the first time in the history of Punjab, a new initiative has been launched to establish micro-libraries and build cultural walls, aimed at showcasing the heritage of small towns. The project began in Wazirabad, a city known for its rich literary and commercial heritage in Punjab. The students can get fresh information that Punjab Launches Micro-Libraries and Cultural Walls Initiative.
Micro-Libraries Installed Across Wazirabad
As part of the Chief Ministers "Read Punjab Programme," book racks have been set up in public parks and waiting areas of bus and railway stations in Wazirabad. Initially, 1,000 books have been made available at 15 different locations for both residents and visitors. Over the coming two to three months, an additional 1,000 books will be added to the collection.
Promoting Reading Culture
The main objective of the program is to encourage reading habits among the public, particularly in parks and at transportation hubs. The bookshelves are protected by rainproof covers to ensure the books remain safe in adverse weather conditions.
Cultural Heritage Highlighted Through City Walls
As part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision to celebrate the cultural heritage of small towns, special walls have been constructed in Wazirabad tehsil to depict the historical and cultural significance of the region. These cultural walls, known as the "Walls of Wazirabad," "Alipur Chatha," and "Gakhar," have become landmarks that represent the unique identity of the cities within Wazirabad tehsil.
