Punjab Clarifies Summer Vacation in Schools Dates
A misleading notification claiming that all public and private schools in Punjab would be closed for summer vacations from May 22 to August 17, 2025, has been widely circulated on social media. The document, which appeared to come from the School Education Department, was later exposed as fake, featuring a forged signature and format, with a red “FAKE” stamp confirming its inauthenticity. False Notice Causes Panic Among Parents and Schools
The bogus notification created widespread confusion among students, parents, and school administrators. It falsely claimed an early start and unusually long duration for the summer holidays, causing many to question the official schedule and make premature plans.
Government Confirms Official Vacation Schedule
The Punjab government has reaffirmed the legitimate timeline for summer vacations in punab. According to Secretary Schools Education, Khalid Nazir Wattoo, summer holidays for both public and private institutions will commence on June 1 and conclude on August 9, 2025, contrary to what the fake circular suggested.
Possible Changes Based on Weather Conditions
While confirming the schedule, Wattoo also mentioned that the vacation period might be adjusted slightly depending on temperature fluctuations. If extreme heat conditions are observed, the government may consider beginning the holidays a week earlier than currently planned.
Public Urged to Verify Official Announcements
Authorities have urged the public to ignore unverified messages and instead rely on official channels for accurate information. The fake notification has highlighted the need for vigilance in distinguishing real updates from misinformation shared online.
