PU Rs 10 Billion Student Scholarship & Financial Support Plan for 2026–27

Punjab University has announced a landmark financial assistance initiative by proposing scholarships and student subsidies worth Rs. 10 billion for the fiscal year 2026–27. The decision reflects the universitys commitment to making higher education in Pakistan more affordable and accessible for talented students, regardless of their financial background. The proposal was approved during the 1,761st meeting of the Punjab University Syndicate and will now be presented before the Senate as part of the universitys proposed Rs. 20.87 billion budget.

Scholarships, Fee Concessions and Student Welfare Measures

The university has separately allocated Rs. 341 million from its internal resources for scholarships, while students will also continue benefiting from the Punjab Honhaar Scholarship Program, Higher Education Commission HEC scholarships, and the Punjab Education Endowment Fund PEEF. Continued Support for Special Categories of Students

Research Funding and Long-Term Financial Stability

Alongside student financial support, Punjab University has earmarked Rs. 284 million in research grants to promote innovation, improve international university rankings, and support research projects that contribute to Pakistans economic and social development. University officials also highlighted that ongoing financial reforms have significantly reduced the budget deficit and expressed confidence that stronger revenue generation and the expansion of the universitys Endowment Fund will ensure sustainable growth in the years ahead.
