Here Is Complete Guideline To Appear In The CSS Exams 2020
Every Year the Federal Public Service Commission FPSC organizes the Central Superior Service CSS Exams in Pakistan. The CSS is conducted to select the highly qualified, competent eligible persons at the higher designations up to BPS-17 in various government sector departments and organizations. Every year the FPSC holds the CSS exams and the exams is conducted in various major cities of the Pakistan. A candidate has three chances under the government policy to appear in the CSS exams.
After qualifying the CSS Exam a candidate is appointed at the higher post from BPS-17 and above according to his/her educational and professional criteria. The Federal Government Programs are given below according to which a candidate can appear for the CSS exams.

The CSS Exams is conducted for the evaluation of the candidate in terms of his/her abilities, qualifications and mental skills. In this regard the FPSC conducts exams in four categories.

Theory Test
The Theory test contains 6 mandatory and 6 optional subjects. The candidate has to score 40% marks in compulsory papers and 33% in optional papers. The candidates who are desired to appear in the CSS Exams 2021 can select the subject combination from compulsory and optional category according to the educational qualifications. The Federal Public Service Commission FPSC, Islamabad has issued a list of subjects in both compulsory and optional category. The list is given below.
Compulsory Subjects
The compulsory subjects in total carry 600 marks with each subject carrying 100 marks. The subjects are:
1. English (Precis and Composition)
2. English Essay
3. General Science and Ability
4. Current Affairs
5. Pakistan Affairs
6. Islamic Studies Or Alternative Subject for Non-Muslims
Optional Subjects
The optional subjects also carry 600 marks and categorized into seven different groups.
Group 1
This group contains 5 different subjects and each subject carries 200 marks.
1. Accountancy & Auditing
2. Economics
3. Computer Science
4. Political Science
5. International Relations
Group 2
This group contains a total of 6 subjects and some subjects carry 200 marks while the rest are of 100 marks. In order to clear the candidate has to score 200 marks. So, two subjects of 100 marks can be chosen or just one subject having 200 marks.
1. Chemistry – 200 marks
2. Physics – 200 marks
3. Pure Mathematics – 100 marks
4. Applied Mathematics – 100 marks
5. Geology – 100 marks
6. Statistics – 100 marks
Group 3
From Group 3 one subject can be selected and each subject has 100 marks.
1. Public Administration
2. Business Administration
3. Government & Public Policies
4. Town Planning & Urban Management
Group 4
1. Here 5 subjects of 100 marks are given and only one needs to be selected.
2. Islamic History and Culture
3. History of Pakistan and India
4. British History
5. European History
6. History of the USA
Group 5
Group 5 has a total of 7 subjects, each of 100 marks and one needs to be chosen out of 7 subjects.
1. Gender Studies
2. Agriculture and Forestry
3. Environmental Sciences
4. Zoology
5. Botany
6. English Literature
7. Urdu Literature
Group 6
All subjects carry a total of 100 marks and one need to selected from the given seven.
1. Law
2. International Law
3. Constitutional Law
4. Criminology

Medical Test
The medical test is said to be taken before appearing in the CSS Exams from a reputed medical institutions. In case of any disability the certificate is requested from the authority in advance. The disabled persons are directed to appear in the CSS exams for the departments like Pakistan Audit and Account, Postal Service, Commerce and Trade and Information Services. The differently able candidates are provided with a helper as a facility during the exams on special request.
Psychological Test And Viva Voce
For the evaluation of mental capabilities and aptitude of the candidates along with the behavioral qualities of psychological test and viva voce is conducted. Both tests carry 300 marks.
Eligibility Criteria
The following requirement must be fulfilled to appear in the exam.
1. The applicant must be a Pakistani national
2. 16 years of education from any national or international university but accredited by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) with at least a 2nd division.
3. The candidate ought to be between the age of 21 and 30
The Venue Of Exam & Interview
The FPSC conducts the CSS Exams in multiple cities all over the Pakistan. The major cities are Okara, Muzaffarabad, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Skardu, Sialkot, Sukkur, Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, D.I. Khan, Gilgit, Hyderabad, Gujranwala, Khuzdar, Larkana, and Multan.
However, the interview is conducted in just five major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, and Peshawar.
How To Apply In Pakistan For CSS EXAM?
The CSS Exams are conducted in February and March every year. The advertisement about the announcement of exams is are published in the newspaper.

1. Online Application: 1st to 31st October (of every year)
2. Last Date for Hard Copy of Online Application Receipt: 11 November (of the year)
3. Cut-Off Date For Qualifying Requirements Determination: December 31 (of the year)
4. CSS Examination commencement: 12 February (of every year)
Process To Apply For The Online Exam Of CSS
