FPSC CSS Applicant Trends & Rejects Reports of Declining Interest

FPSC CSS Applicant Trends & Rejects Reports of Declining Interest

The Federal Public Service Commission FPSC has dismissed reports suggesting a sharp decline in the number of CSS applicants, stating that such conclusions are based on an incomplete interpretation of official statistics. The commission clarified that comparing only the written Exams applicants from different years does not accurately reflect the overall interest in Pakistan’s premier civil service Exams. According to the FPSC, the CSS MCQ-Based Preliminary Test MPT remains the most reliable indicator of candidate participation, demonstrating that thousands of young Pakistanis continue to aspire to join the countrys civil services.

MPT Registration Figures Present a Different Picture

Officials explained that 64,081 candidates registered for the CSS MPT 2025, indicating sustained enthusiasm for the competitive Exams. After completing the mandatory screening stage, 18,139 candidates submitted applications for the written Exams, while 12,792 candidates appeared in the exam. Following the evaluation process, 354 candidates qualified, and 170 candidates were ultimately allocated to various occupational groups and services. The FPSC emphasized that these figures should be viewed as different stages of a single recruitment process rather than evidence of declining interest.

Commission Urges Accurate Interpretation of Official Data

The commission noted that some recent reports overlooked the significance of the mandatory MPT screening test, leading to misleading conclusions about the popularity of the Central Superior Services CSS Exams. FPSC also pointed out that previous analyses failed to consider the outcomes of the Special CSS Exams 2023, which resulted in the appointment of candidates from women, minority, and underdeveloped area quotas. Officials stressed the importance of presenting official recruitment data in its proper context to ensure accurate public understanding.

CSS Continues to Attract Pakistans Future Civil Servants

The FPSC reaffirmed that the CSS competitive Exams remains one of Pakistans most prestigious career pathways for graduates seeking opportunities in the federal civil service. By clarifying the complete recruitment cycle and emphasizing transparent statistical reporting, the commission aims to reinforce public confidence in the CSS Exams process. Aspirants are encouraged to rely on official FPSC announcements and verified data for updates regarding CSS registration, MPT, written Exams, and civil service recruitment.
