The Govt Postgraduate College Jaranwala Faisalabad was established by the government of Punjab in 1960 at building of Municipal Primary School, Jaranwala. The school was upgraded as government Higher Secondary School, Jaranwala. In 1967, it was given the status of degree Science College. The Govt Postgraduate College, Jaranwala, Faisalabad imparts quality education to the students of Faisalabad. The college is affiliated with Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education BISE Faisalabad and the University of Punjab PU, Lahore.

The Govt Postgraduate College, Jaranwala, Faisalabad offers various intermediate, graduate and postgraduate academic programs. Computer science department was established in 2000 and I.C.S. classes started in the college to provide computer education at inter level to the students of the college. M.A. Block was constructed in 2005. The building of this M.A. Block was meant for four post graduate disciplines. The classes of M.A. English and M.A. Islamiat were started in 1998. In 2010,with the approval of Punjab government I.Com. programme was launched to impart education in the commerce field.

Academic and co-curricular activities are being conducted under the guidance and supervision of qualified members of the teaching staff throughout the academic session. All national days are celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. The college is participating in hockey, football, lawn tennis, cricket, kabaddi, volleyball, debates and Sira conferences. The college has best facilities of science labs, computer lab and library etc.
