King Edward Medical University KEMU, Lahore, on behalf of the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, Government of the Punjab, announces admissions for MS, MD, and MDS programs offered by various public medical institutions across Punjab through the Punjab Residency Program.
This program, launched under the leadership of the Chief Minister Punjab, aims to provide talented doctors equal opportunities to pursue postgraduate medical education on merit in recognized public sector institutions.
Admission Through Joint Centralized Admission Test JCAT
KEMU Admission to all MS/MD/MDS specialties will be conducted via the Joint Centralized Admission Test JCAT, organized and managed by KEMU.Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
Possess an MBBS or BDS degree from an institution recognized by the Higher Education Commission HEC and Pakistan Medical & Dental Council PM&DC/Pakistan Medical Commission PMC.
Completed a one-year house job in a hospital recognized by PM&DC/PMC.
Have a valid CNIC/Passport and domicile certificate.
Hold valid PM&DC/PMC registration permanent or provisional.
Foreign nationals must have medical registration from their home country’s medical council and PM&DC/PMC.
Candidates providing false information or lacking eligibility will be disqualified and may face legal action.
JCAT Entrance Test Structure
The admission test consists of two papers, each with 100 multiple-choice questions MCQs:
Paper-I: Applied basic sciences, common for all MD/MS candidates separate Paper-I for MDS.
Paper-II: Specialty-specific, divided into the following specialties:
Medicine and Allied
Surgery and Allied
Obstetrics & Gynecology
Anesthesiology
Ophthalmology
Diagnostic Radiology
Psychiatry
Oto-Rhino-Laryngology ENT
Dentistry
Tentative exam date: 2nd November 2025.
Minimum passing score: 60% aggregate.
Passing the test is necessary but does not guarantee admission.
Important Information
The specialty-specific JCAT will apply from January 2026 induction.
Candidates with a valid pass in the common JCAT since March 2023 must only pass Paper-II with 60% marks.
The validity of the test result is three years.
Candidates may retake exams to improve scores; the highest score will be valid.
Fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Applicants must verify their eligibility before applying.
Application Procedure
Applications open from 15th August 2025 via the official portal: https://jcat.kemu.edu.pk.
Steps to apply:
Register using your email and CNIC Pakistani nationals or Passport foreign nationals. Verify email to receive login credentials.
Login and complete the application form, selecting your specialty carefully choice is final.
Generate fee challan and pay Rs. 10,000/- full exam or Rs. 6,000/- Paper-II only at any National Bank of Pakistan branch or via mobile banking. Upload payment receipt online.
Upload scanned copies of all required documents and submit the application.
Application deadline: 2nd September 2025, 3:00 PM.
Incomplete or late applications will be rejected.
Exams will be conducted simultaneously in Lahore and Multan; city choice is final.
